We’re not jumping that far ahead at FreeCharge, but we are big believers in mobile becoming the primary access point for Indian consumers to access basic needs and information. That means that we deliberately pace ourselves when we think about our mobile footprint. The competitive landscape and our peers seem to be more interested in the fast and furious approach, churning out mobile apps regardless of whether consumer adoption, engagement and loyalty come along with them. Having that said, our Android application is growing very well and we’ve been showered with good constructive feedback, as well as a solid pat on the back. That feels nice. Our mobile browser friendly site has been received with similar gusto.
Just yesterday, our consumers can now save their credit and debit cards on the mobile apps. If you’ve been using FreeCharge.in on the web and have already saved your cards there, you will see those cards in the mobile apps as well. And yes, we are PCI-DSS compliant and certified, and a completely safe and secure site to transact on. You’ve got nothing to worry about, outside of figuring out what awesome coupons you want to choose from.
Also now live on mobile, if you’ve got some FreeCharge balance lying around but it’s not enough to complete your transaction, you can split your transaction and pay for it partially with Balance and partially with a normal payment method. It’s actually very convenient.
And last but certainly not least, don’t forget to top up your Balance account on a regular basis on mobile now. This is a fantastic option for those on the go, especially those using our mobile apps, because it allows you to do a large deposit upfront, say Rs. 1000, and any subsequent transaction completely bypasses the payment gateway, making the transaction super smooth.
