Go, Gadget, Go!

You’ve heard it a million times, and unfortunately, you’ve probably heard it as a soundbite from some holier-than-thou smart a*s, telling you his vision of an Orwellian future, a future where the mobile device will help you take a wee if you need it to.

We’re not jumping that far ahead at FreeCharge, but we are big believers in mobile becoming the primary access point for Indian consumers to access basic needs and information. That means that we deliberately pace ourselves when we think about our mobile footprint. The competitive landscape and our peers seem to be more interested in the fast and furious approach, churning out mobile apps regardless of whether consumer adoption, engagement and loyalty come along with them. We’re happy to take the more

Having that said, our Android application is growing very well and we’ve been showered with good constructive feedback, as well as a solid pat on the back. That feels nice. Our mobile browser friendly site has been received with similar gusto.

Just yesterday, our consumers can now save their credit and debit cards on the mobile apps. If you’ve been using FreeCharge.in on the web and have already saved your cards there, you will see those cards in the mobile apps as well. And yes, we are PCI-DSS compliant and certified, and a completely safe and secure site to transact on. You’ve got nothing to worry about, outside of figuring out what awesome coupons you want to choose from.

Also now live on mobile, if you’ve got some FreeCharge balance lying around but it’s not enough to complete your transaction, you can split your transaction and pay for it partially with Balance and partially with a normal payment method. It’s actually very convenient.

And last but certainly not least, don’t forget to top up your Balance account on a regular basis on mobile now. This is a fantastic option for those on the go, especially those using our mobile apps, because it allows you to do a large deposit upfront, say Rs. 1000, and any subsequent transaction completely bypasses the payment gateway, making the transaction super smooth.

We aim to please at FreeCharge, and when it comes to mobile, our motto is no different. Your feedback, as always, is completely welcome. What other features or enhancements would you like to see on our mobile apps? Let us know. We’re always listening.

Onwards and upwards…

im using ur app from the day it was
    launched
I would like to suggest you a few changes
    to improve ur app
As ive also used d mobikwik.com app I feel
their app is perfect in all terms
    The changes I advice is
1 There should be a option to add number
    from my contacts
Currently I need to copy the number
from contacts & paste it in the box
    2. Ur app is a bit heavy on ram takes
    50mb on my tab 2 & 40mb on galaxy
    chat (both samsung)
As samsung & other co.s low end mobiles
hav only 256-512mb ram this app is
    heavy for them
    3. When i go to my account option & my
recharges then to back to the
recharge screen is quite difficult as
pressing the back button takes me to
my account then pressing back button
takes me to my recharge maybe thats a
    bug
    4. When comparing this app to
mobikwik.com I found their app is faster
    &
has a smoother interface & additionally
there is a option to chk the plans
& full talktime offers & other recharge
packs & we can directly recharge
from there rather than moving back to
    the original recharge screen

This is all excellent feedback, Deepanshu.

Point 1 is on the roadmap (recharge number from your contacts). A recharge button directly from my accounts is also a good recommendation and we’ll include that in a subsequent mobile release. And yes, you are right: having plans information is critical, and this is something you are bound to see go live very quickly. The new version of both the web and the mobile app will showcase hundreds of different prepaid plans for all operators. Stay tuned. Thanks again Deepanshu!!

Excellent feedback, Yash. Just to let you know, we are currently working on showcasing hundreds of different plans across different types of top-ups across all operators in India. We’ll keep you in the loop on when these changes go live, but that certainly includes special recharges (3G, ISD, data, SMS, etc.).

Dont wait for the app dude, these guys are cheaters and they dont intend to refund your money back to your bank account. I am going through a lot of pain for using their services and now they are not ready to refund my money back to my Bank Account , rather they are forcing me to use it on their portal. My recharge got unsuccessful and the silly reason was that I entered the amount incorrect by this web portal. On the other hand, I personally recharged the same amount from a local recharge reseller. heights of lying to consumer

Vaibhav – first of all, my sincere apologies for your experience. We are doing our level best to enhance our customer experience, and I do hope that you will give us another chance.

And I’d like to personally look into your matter; if you do not intend on using FreeCharge Balance to retry your recharge, that is completely understandable. I will have one of our customer care agents contact you immediately. In the meantime, one more thing I’d like to explain. At times, the offline retail channel for recharge gets access to recharge plans that online players may not get. We are populating a list every day of recharge plans that should work for us online, so do check those out.

        Again, many apologies Vaibhav.
