A very happy New Year to everyone out there. And welcome to the new, sparkly-clean and excruciatingly honest chronicles of the FreeCharge journey. We start now.
I’ll save you the theatrics of days past, but I will tell you that change is in the air here, and how sweet it smells. There are a few things we’ve done that have helped us usher in a refreshed culture of performance, accountability, camaraderie, and fun. No secret sauce here, just the basics.
1. Fine-tuned HR policies – we discarded some of our more draconian HR policies for ones that place a higher value on performance, transparency and respect. This is an ongoing process, and perhaps one of the most underrated ones, but one that I am personally very excited to be a part of.
2. Empower everyone – even if it meant empowering them to make the decision to part with the company, we did that. More often than not, the process to establish your long-term resources is something that happens almost automatically if you treat the process with complete openness and respect.
3. Eng, eng, eng – I’ve always been a more engineering/technology/product driven lead than others. I truly do believe that having a second to none engineering/product team solves over half your problems. By moving our entire eng/design/product team to Bangalore, and recruiting some of the sharpest minds I’ve had the pleasure to work with, we’re positioning ourselves for something very special.
Of course I am glossing over the nuances and the minutiae, and we continue to work on many other things that will position FreeCharge for continued market dominance, product superiority, and customer satisfaction.
Until next time, onwards and upwards.
